ΑΛΛΕΣ ΠΛΗΡΟΦΟΡΙΕΣ:   Western Armenian was formed as a standard language in the Ottoman Empire after several centuries of intensive bilingualism with Turkish. Some of the typological features of Western Armenian may reflect potentialities of the non-Indo-European subtract. Other ones seem to be clearly convergent with typically Turkic features. The aim of the seminar will be to examine some of them in detail, namely: Syntax of the complex clause, including relative clause, Noun determination (plural, ezafe, article-like phenomena) Tense-aspect-mode features (including evidentiality). The seminar will be drawn on the basis of an active discussion, with a detailed handout presenting Armenian data and submitted to students in order to allow them to formulate convergences and divergences with Turkish. Considerations about regional variation of Turkish in both Turkey and Cyprus are strongly encouraged.
